The foundational architecture of the global economy is being rebuilt. At B9F7 Parvis Trust, our investment thesis is focused on the critical, physical infrastructure that underpins this new digital and energy landscape. From our vantage point in Madrid, we view the Mediterranean, and specifically Greece, as a re-emerging, critical nexus for global connectivity.
We are witnessing a profound realignment of data and energy flows. New subsea data cables, acting as the central nervous system for data from Asia and Africa, are making landfall in Greece. Simultaneously, the region is becoming a pivotal hub for energy diversification and new infrastructure, essential for Europe’s long-term energy security.
This concentration of critical infrastructure creates immense economic opportunity. It also creates a highly concentrated, high-stakes point of vulnerability. The physical security of these new data and energy assets—and the cybersecurity protocols that govern them—are no longer a domestic concern; they are a matter of pan-European strategic importance.
The infrastructure itself is only half of the equation. The other, more critical half, is the specialized human capital required to secure, manage, and govern this new gateway.
In recognition of this profound need, B9F7 Parvis Trust is proud to announce a strategic grant of €785,000 to the Kingsman National Institute in Greece.
This is not a general endowment. This foundational grant is specifically designated to establish a new, interdisciplinary program: The Centre for Secure Digital and Energy Infrastructure Governance. This initiative is designed to build a world-class center of excellence focused on the unique challenges at the intersection of technology, policy, and security.
The Centre’s mandate will be to pioneer research and develop the next generation of leadership in three critical areas:
- Cyber-Physical Security for Critical Infrastructure: Focusing on the unique vulnerabilities of subsea data cables and LNG terminal infrastructure, moving beyond traditional IT security to address integrated operational technology (OT) threats.
- AI-Driven Network Defense: Developing new AI and machine learning models to monitor and defend the high-throughput data and energy networks that form this new crossroads, ensuring their resilience against sophisticated, state-level threats.
- Data Sovereignty and Policy: Building the essential policy and governance frameworks to manage the massive cross-border data flows, ensuring compliance, security, and trust as Greece solidifies its role as a premier data hub for the European Union.
Our Education thesis is not just about funding STEM; it is about funding the strategic talent that our future economy depends on. By investing in the Kingsman National Institute, we are investing in the expert human capital required to protect the vital arteries of Europe’s new digital and energy economy.
