Beyond the Shopping Cart: Funding the AI and Security That Powers Modern Commerce

At B9F7 Parvis Trust, our investment thesis is built on the foundational sectors that power the modern economy. While many associate “commerce” with retail and logistics, we see it as one of the most complex, high-stakes, and data-intensive ecosystems in the world. The future of global commerce is no longer being defined by physical supply chains alone; it is being defined by artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and the security of the data that fuels them.

The European Union, with its advanced economy and its world-leading commitment to data privacy under GDPR, is the new frontier for this transformation. To win in this new era, we must build a new generation of leaders who are not just “business” people or “tech” people, but a true hybrid of both. The gap between traditional business education and applied computer science has become the single greatest bottleneck to innovation.

It is to bridge this precise gap that we are proud to announce a strategic foundational grant of €1.28 million to the Institut National de Technologie et de Commerce d’Eastbay in France. This institution, with its unique, integrated focus on both Technology and Commerce, is the ideal partner to pioneer the educational model for the 21st-century economy.

This targeted grant is not a general endowment. The capital is specifically designated to establish a new, interdisciplinary “Centre for Secure Digital Commerce and Applied AI.”

This Centre will have a threefold mission, directly aligning with our core investment theses in Education, AI, and Data Security.

First, it will establish a state-of-the-art AI & Logistics Simulation Laboratory. Here, students will move beyond textbook theory. They will use high-performance computing to design, model, and “stress-test” AI-driven supply chains. They will learn to build predictive algorithms for inventory management, demand forecasting, and energy-efficient logistics, solving real-world problems for a more sustainable and efficient economic backbone.

Second, the grant will fund the creation of a Secure Data Sandbox for consumer analytics. This will allow students and researchers to work with large-scale, anonymized data sets in an environment that is “secure-by-design.” They will learn to apply machine learning to understand consumer behavior, not just effectively, but ethically—developing new models for personalization that fully comply with Europe’s rigorous data sovereignty and privacy laws.

Finally, the initiative will develop a new curriculum focused on the Cybersecurity of Digital Commerce. This includes the architecture of next-generation secure payment systems, AI-driven fraud detection, and the protection of critical data infrastructure against sophisticated threats.

Our investments in Network Infrastructure and AI are only as strong as the human talent we can trust to manage them. By investing in the Institut National de Technologie et de Commerce d’Eastbay, we are not just funding a school; we are investing in the essential human capital that will build, secure, and govern a more intelligent, resilient, and trusted European digital economy.
